Proverbs 14:31

He who oppresses the poor shows contempt for his Maker, but he who is kind to the needy honors him.

Whoever stops his ears at the cry of the poor, he will also cry out, but shall not be heard.

One who gives to the poor has no lack; but one who closes his eyes will have many curses.

Isaiah 58:6-7

“Isn’t this the fast that I have chosen: to release the bonds of wickedness, to undo the straps of the yoke, to let the oppressed go free, and that you break every yoke? Isn’t it to distribute your bread to the hungry, and that you bring the poor who are cast out to your house? When you see the naked, that you cover him; and that you not hide yourself from your own flesh?

Ezekiel 16:49

“‘“Behold, this was the iniquity of your sister Sodom: pride, fullness of bread, and prosperous ease was in her and in her daughters. She also didn’t strengthen the hand of the poor and needy.

Therefore, because you trample on the poor and take taxes from him of wheat, you have built houses of cut stone, but you will not dwell in them. I will come near to you to judgment.
