When we glance at the news online, it’s clear—the world is unstable. When we look at our spouse, our children, or our friends, we realize they too are fragile and ever-changing. We cannot anchor our hope in things or people that shift like shadows—because we will get disappointed. The Bible tells us that even the sun, which rises each morning and sets each evening, will one day be darkened. So, what never changes? What can we truly depend on? Where can we place our hope?

We give thanks that the Word of God points us to the answer: God is unchanging. He is never shaken. He is the same yesterday, today, and forever. His character—whether his patience, his mercy, or his justice—never changes.

Therefore, we encourage you to mediate on the truth and worship God from the depths of our hearts, for he is unchanging. When the storms of life come, the truth will help us fix our eyes on the unchanging God who will save us and uphold us to the very end! Praise the Lord!

His unchanging nature

Psalm 102:25-27

25Of old, you laid the foundation of the earth. The heavens are the work of your hands. 26They will perish, but you will endure. Yes, all of them will wear out like a garment. You will change them like a cloak, and they will be changed. 27But you are the same. Your years will have no end.

James 1:17

17Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom can be no variation nor turning shadow.

Malachi 3:6

6“For I, the LORD, don’t change; therefore you, sons of Jacob, are not consumed.

Hebrews 13:8

8Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.

Numbers 23:19

19God is not a man, that he should lie, nor a son of man, that he should repent. Has he said, and he won’t do it? Or has he spoken, and he won’t make it good?

1 Samuel 15:29

29Also the Strength of Israel will not lie nor repent; for he is not a man, that he should repent.”

Isaiah 26:3–4

3You will keep whoever’s mind is steadfast in perfect peace, because he trusts in you. 4Trust in the LORD forever; for in the LORD, the LORD, is an everlasting Rock.

Isaiah 46:3-4

3“Listen to me, house of Jacob, and all the remnant of the house of Israel, that have been carried from their birth, that have been carried from the womb. 4Even to old age I am he, and even to gray hairs I will carry you. I have made, and I will bear. Yes, I will carry, and will deliver.

Isaiah 28:16

16Therefore the Lord GOD says, “Behold, I lay in Zion for a foundation a stone, a tried stone, a precious cornerstone of a sure foundation. He who believes shall not act hastily.

Hebrews 6:19

19This hope we have as an anchor of the soul, a hope both sure and steadfast and entering into that which is within the veil,

Fixed our eyes upon unchanging God

Hebrews 12:2

2Looking to Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising its shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

Colossians 3:1–2

1If then you were raised together with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated on the right hand of God. 2Set your mind on the things that are above, not on the things that are on the earth.

Psalm 123:1-2

1I lift up my eyes to you, you who sit in the heavens. 2Behold, as the eyes of servants look to the hand of their master, as the eyes of a maid to the hand of her mistress, so our eyes look to the LORD, our God, until he has mercy on us.

Isaiah 45:22

22“Look to me, and be saved, all the ends of the earth; for I am God, and there is no other.

2 Corinthians 4:18

18While we don’t look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporal, but the things which are not seen are eternal.

Prayer

Abba Father,

we come to worship you! We know that everything we see in this world is constantly changing—but you are unchanging! We put our trust in you, for you alone are the Eternal Rock. You are our source of hope and the source of our life!

Lord our God,

We confess that sometimes we doubt you when we face struggles in life. We question whether You still love us, whether You are still just, whether You still care. Lord, forgive our unbelief according to your kindness, and strengthen our faith to hold fast to your Words! You never change! You still love us, care for us, and carry us!

In the name of Jesus we pray. Amen!
